Science Expo Judges Needed

The 3rd annual COCC Regional Science Expo (formally the Intel Regional Science Fair) is quickly approaching! This science fair is part of the overall Intel Science competition and winners can go to state or larger regional competitions. The Saturday event (March 5th) will be hosted on the COCC campus.  20–25 judges are needed, with each judge observing and interviewing 3–5 projects. Judges need not be subject matter experts, particularly at the middle school level. STEM Week Oregon

May 2–10, 2015 is officially STEM Week Oregon, a state-wide movement to raise awareness, celebrate, and engage young people in activities involving science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Anyone, anywhere in the state can participate. The statewide network of STEM Hubs is collaborating to promote this opportunity to spread the word about STEM in Oregon. Family STEM Night

The STEM Hub is hosting a free Family STEM Night from 4:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, February 19th at the Riverbend Community Room (part of the Bend Park & Recreation District building in Riverbend Park). Drop in for hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities and to learn from partner organizations about regional STEM programs. All ages are welcome and snacks will be provided. Activities are informal and families can arrive anytime between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Snacks and activities involving consumable materials will be first come, first served. Big Dream Screening

On January 23rd at 6:00pm at the Tower Theatre, the STEM Hub will present a community screening of the documentary Big Dream. The film follows the stories of seven young women who are breaking barriers and overcoming personal challenges to follow their passion in science, math, computing, and engineering.
